Women's manager Rhys Griffiths gives his thoughts over the last few weeks

It's been a frustrating period, but I remain confident that we're on the right track. The players have been working diligently and showing improvement, but costly errors are hindering our progress. At this level, teams can punish us for such mistakes.

Despite these setbacks, there are plenty of positives to take away. We're consistently creating numerous scoring opportunities, and Sunday's game was no exception. The Portchester goalkeeper made two outstanding saves to deny Izzy Wheatley and Issy Childs in the second half. If we can regain our clinical edge and convert these chances, we'll undoubtedly see a turnaround in our fortunes.

We faced Portchester on Sunday with several key players unavailable. Lauren Kelly-Stoner is likely to be out until the end of next month due to an ankle ligament injury, while Gemma Halford and Maisy West were also absent. This meant that three-quarters of our regular backline were missing. The players who stepped up performed admirably, but costly mistakes, as mentioned earlier, proved decisive. Portchester's experienced side capitalized on these errors.

Our squad, with an average age of 19, is relatively young, though not the youngest in the league. We possess exceptional talent, and I believe this squad deserves better results than we've achieved so far. The players' drive and determination have been exemplary. We're also strengthening our squad with the recent signing of Chelsea Burr from Southampton, a significant acquisition that demonstrates our commitment to building a strong team and to continue to run the club in the correct manor, doing the right things!

As I've stated before, we're working on the final piece of the puzzle. Once we rectify this, I'm confident that we'll start to see the results we deserve.
