Women's manager Rhys Griffiths gives his thoughts on recent performances following the recent games against Oxford City and Woodley

The last two weekends have seen us have some contrasting moments. We travelled away to Oxford City, our longest away journey to date, and did not turn up for the game. Despite this, at half time we were only 1-0 down, but this was due to some good defending and excellent keeping from Campbell in between the sticks!

The second half we started slow, but a second goal seemed to give us a spark and we were a little fortunate with Wheatley's eventual consolation goal, but could have had a number of goals over the course of the game! 3 really clear cut opportunities in the first half of this game could have seen us comfortable at the break, but we need to start being clinical when we have opportunities we must score!

Sunday was very different. We returned home against a side who have been in excellent form, finishing second last season and doing really well after a poor start for themselves! Similar to the week before, we started slowly. Craig and I discussed the idea of changing the shape, which unfortunately backfired for us. We went behind to a really good strike, but we afforded the forward too much space!

The second came in from a free kick with a small error in the box which was capitalised upon. We did create some opportunities for ourselves, looking good from set pieces and some break aways in wide areas but we were unable to truly test the keeper. The second half however, we were outstanding. We piled on immense pressure to the visitors, and moved the ball excellently throughout the half! The disappointment though is that when you have 11 shots on goal in one half, you must score at least one of them! Unfortunately, the visitors got an element of luck as their player got through two of our back line to score the final goal of the game.

There are so many positives from these fantastic footballers at the moment, and you hope that once we get our shooting boots on properly, we should start to see the results that I truly believe we have deserved in previous games! We just need to connect the final cog and I am certain our season can be far more exciting than the prospect of it is!

Sunday we are again at the Seal Bay Resort Stadium in Adobe FA Cup action as we take on South London women. We hope that many can come down to show the ladies their support as we have another opportunity to progress in this amazing competition! Kick off is 2pm.
