"We deserved the win, the lads deserved the credit for their hard work" - Pearce

Men's First team manager, Daren Pearce, gives his thoughts following the weekend's victory

As they say, "hard work pays off," and on Saturday, this was very evident in both the result and the performance of the lads. They worked harder than our opposition, which we knew would be necessary as they are a very good side.

If we continue to perform in this manner, we are slowly but surely moving in the right direction, especially at home. The lads are becoming more consistent in their play and understanding of our tactics.

The game itself was a good watch for any fan, with both sides playing good football and striving to score. Selsey took the lead when Kieren Jones was fouled in the penalty area, and Bradley Higgins-Pearce converted the resulting penalty to give us a 1-0 advantage.

In the second half, we extended our lead. A good break and run from James Henton, released by Jones, saw his shot saved by the visiting keeper. Adam Williams followed up, but the opposition defender handled the ball on the line. Higgins-Pearce converted the second penalty of the afternoon, putting us 2-0 up. Seaford were then reduced to ten men before Jones squared to Henton, who fired home to secure a fantastic 3-0 victory against the league leaders.

This great win follows last Saturday's victory against East Preston. Now our attention turns back to league action, as we host Reigate Priory at home on Saturday at 3 PM.
