Sunday saw us take a break from league action, welcoming Abbey Rangers to the Seal Bay Stadium. This provided a pleasant change of pace and an opportunity to experiment without the pressure of league points.
I want to start by commending our visitors on their performance. Despite playing with ten players, they maintained discipline, worked tirelessly in defence, and made it difficult for us to break through.
We began the match strongly, with Kate Delillis scoring after a brilliant pass from Gemma Halford. This allowed her to beat the defender and fire a shot into the net. Chelsea Burr followed suit, converting a great switched pass from Delillis with a powerful strike into the far corner. Burr and Issy Childs had chances to extend our lead, but their efforts struck the woodwork.

Unfortunately, our performance in the first half was somewhat lacklustre, as complacency seemed to creep in. However, the second half saw a significant improvement. The visitors continued to defend resolutely, making it challenging for us to create clear-cut chances. Eventually, a loose clearance fell to Burr, who displayed creativity to beat her defender and unleash a powerful shot that the goalkeeper couldn't handle.
We created numerous opportunities throughout the game but were denied by excellent defending and goalkeeping. The positive takeaway is that we kept a clean sheet. This unbeaten run extends to two games, and we continue to make positive strides this season.
