"Some performances haven't quite given the deserved results!" - Griffiths

Women's manager, Rhys Griffiths, discusses how things have gone recently

It's been a bittersweet few weeks. While the results haven't been ideal, some of our performances have shown glimpses of the level we aspire to. Unfortunately, injuries have hampered our progress, and we've also had to say goodbye to Kate Delillis, who's moved to Bognor Regis. I wish her all the best and thank her for her contributions this season.

The match against Winchester was a standout moment. Despite the terrible weather, the ladies executed our game plan almost flawlessly. Millie Delamont put in a stellar performance, keeping the opposition at bay. Defensively, we were solid, and we created numerous chances. If we'd been more clinical, we could have drawn or even won the game.

While exiting the Combined Counties Cup was disappointing, the Eastbourne Borough match provided an opportunity to give some players with less minutes some valuable game time. The game allowed us to experiment and adapt to a more tactical approach.

This group continues to grow and improve. Their work ethic is undeniable, and they've shown tremendous resilience, especially in the face of adversity. Despite a depleted squad and a tough match against Wycombe Wanderers, they battled hard, limiting the hosts' chances and benefiting from strong goalkeeping from Delamont. We have also struggled with luck! We have had two penalties not awarded recently which upon reflection of footage, we are still unsure how they were not given!

To turn our fortunes around, we need to eliminate small errors. Many of our goals conceded stem from hesitation in decision-making. This is a correctable issue, and with the team's hard work and dedication, we can address it.

We return to the Seal Bay Resort Stadium on Sunday for a League Cup match against Beaconsfield. It promises to be an exciting game, kicking off at 2 PM.
